Licence proof of identity

The person who signs the identity confirmation form and photo must hold a valid GB photocard driving licence and be: Resident in the United Kingdom.

Providing proof of identity for a driving licence If you want to apply for a photocard driving licence , you may need to provide some form of identification. As UK nationals do not normally have identity cards, a photographic driving licence can serve many of the purposes of an identity card in non-driving contexts, such as proof of identity (e.g. when opening a bank account) or of age (e.g. when buying age-restricted goods such as alcohol or tobacco). It really depends on what you mean by “official ID”, because in the UK the only “official identification document” is a passport or driver’s licence. Other documents that are acceptable are student ID cards, birth certificates and sometimes even credit cards.
